Service Activities
Service activities conducted by FBN include contractional research ranging from more involved projects with 3-24 months durations to simple sample characterization or processing activities. Funding of the projects may occur on a per sample/fee basis, a goal oriented time/contract basis (required if the project involves involving intellectutal property right) to simple support type (gift funded) research activities. Costs are negotiable and include salaries, materials and potentially travel costs as well as indirect costs assessed by the university. For IP related issues, more information can be obtained at the Commercial Ventures and Intellectual Property Rights (CVIP) Department of the university.
Consulting
Faculty members in the Department of Food Science regaularly consult regarding technical and scientific issues. Previous consulting experience of Dr. Weiss includes Pepsico Inc., OceanSpray, Bush Brothers, Sara Lee, Frito Lay and others.
